Mothers Against Drunk Driving, MADD

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) was founded in 1980 by Candace Lightner. Candy’s 13 year old daughter was hit and killed by a drunk driver, which led Candy to reach out to moms across the country to create a grass-roots organization dedicated to bringing attention to this issue. MADD has grown into one of the biggest victim services organizations in the country. MADD’s mission statement reflects four priorities: eliminate drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support victims, and prevent underage drinking.

With MADD’s founding history rooted in a mother losing her daughter to a drunk driver, we are forever passionate about bringing awareness to substance abuse issues.
